Today’s Aromatherapy Tip of the Day: September 26, 2013 is Niaouli Essential Oil.
Niaouli (Melaleuca viridiflora)
Areas of Origin: Australia, New Caledonia
Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the tree.
Color: Colorless
Aroma: Strong Camphorous
Effect: Cooling
Benefits: Antiseptic, Anti-Inflammatory, Analgesic, Expectorant, Tonic

USES
Respiratory System – Good for all types of Pulmonary Tract Infections, such as: Bronchitis, Colds, Coughs, Flu, Laryngitis, Sinusitis
Skin System – Good for treating acne and boils. Suitable for cleaning burns, cuts, grazes, and minor wounds.
Emotion System – Good for treating confusion and mental fatigue.
RECIPES
Respiratory System
Blend 1 Ounce Carrier Oil
30 drops Niaouli Essential Oil
8 drops Pine Essential Oil
7 drops Hyssop Essential Oil
Shake well before each use.
Treatment is by warm compress used on chest and/or upper back; 20 drops of blend. Chest and/or upper back massage; 20 drops. 3 to 5 drops added to water in an Aroma Lamp, kept near the patient. Place 20 to 30 drops of blend into a warm bath and soak 20 to 30 minutes. Do not let the water get cold.
Skin System
Blend 1 Ounce Carrier Oil
15 drops Niaouli Essential Oil
15 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
Shake well before each use.
Treatment is by placing 10 to 15 drops of blend onto clean, sterile gauze, for Burns, Cuts, Grazes, or Minor Wounds. Place prepared gauze onto the area to be treated and dress the wound. Change dressing at least twice a day. Use 5 drops on a clean, sterile cotton ball, then swab face and neck, to treat acne. This should be performed at least twice a day. For Boils, place 5 drops of blend on a clean, sterile cotton ball, place on boil, and securely tape into place.
Emotion System
Blend 1 Ounce Carrier Oil
25 drops Niaouli Essential Oil
10 drops Petitgrain Essential Oil
10 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
Shake well before each use.
Treatment is by using 20 to 30 drops of blend into a warm bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Wear as a Body Perfume; 1 drop behind each ear and 1 drop on each wrist. Place 3 to 5 drops in water of an Aroma Lamp, kept near the patient.
