A New Astrological Year Begins With the 2017 Aries Equinox: March 20 2017

Moontide Femme by Anna Briggs of Annas Breath

The Sun will enter the sign of Aries on March 20th, 2017 and take us into a brand new season of energy. The Northern Hemisphere will be celebrating the entrance of Spring and the Southern Hemisphere will welcome Autumn. The day and night will be perfectly balanced and as a result, some of us may find an equilibrium. It’s a very powerful astrological time.

When the Sun enters Aries new beginnings and energy are sparked into motion.

The Zodiac begins with the sign of Aries, which makes it the perfect place to embark upon a fresh start.  The February Eclipses closed out chapters and ignited new ones at the same time. This seasonal shift, happening here, now takes us deeper into our new beginnings. Aries is the sign that’s the pioneer and one that jumps into anything and everything.  It’s got a brave heart and doesn’t need much convincing because it’s the thrill of the unknown that drives it forward. Some of its fearless energy will be in the air helping to propel us ahead and feel the possibility in doing something different.

Astrologers have long used the first day of any season (Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter) to forecast the tone of the next three months ahead. Relationship matters are still a major focal point with Venus moving deeper into her retrograde at the point of the equinox. Our values are being questioned and realigned in the new season ahead. To find out more about the new beginnings in motion for each of us personally, read about the deeper meaning of this Venus Retrograde Cycle.

The 2017 Aries Equinox is a perfect time to set new intentions.

Use the energy at hand to breath new life into something or simply use it to appreciate all we currently have. Endings always yield new beginnings and if we pause for a moment we might be able to tap into the “something new” that lies ahead.

Lunar News March 18, 2017

  • March 20th:
    Spring Equinox
    Sun goes into Aries
    Waning Half Moon in Capricorn
  • Moon moves through:
    Capricorn / Aquarius / Pisces

From a spiritual and psychological standpoint, the transition from winter into spring is a restructuring time. We may feel a stirring of new life, new ideas, or a movement from inertia to growth. There are many ways to return from an Underworld or Innerworld experience—it’s not always a comfortable time. How can we help each other through this turbulent re-entry? We Answer: in ritual. We begin with purification—a sweat, or a bath in a river, the ocean—to clear the dross of deep inner work. Then we move toward Return. This may take the form of an actual journey through the woods, or through guided meditation.

Come alive! Cardinal Fire Aries revivifies us after a long winter by reminding us who we are and what we want. We become more primal, direct, frank, open, and rebellious; our inner teenager comes alive, our adult self needs to direct the energy wisely.
Those born under the Aries Sun embody those qualities. Don’t tell them what to do, give them a challenge instead. Appreciate their enthusiasm, life force, leadership, and no-nonsense clarity.
Get organized, make a list and check it off; a sense of accomplishment is the best cure for potential depression. The mood is determined, serious, competent, but uncomfortable without purpose or goal. Manage, don’t manipulate. Reach into history or tradition for answers.

We love to share our ideas and can bond over saying outrageous things… Let a desire for fresh news, fresh territory, and a clean garden inspire action. Just notice that people may, in their enthusiasm, not be particularly careful of each other’s tender feelings.
We begin the new week with a charge; the Sun enters proactive Aries on Monday as the Moon enters determined Capricorn, and the spring revolution kicks in, however we want to define it. Politics, both national and interpersonal, moves onto the front burner this week. The courage to begin again, no matter how tough the winter, is the medicine of spring, so the stars ask us where do we need to start over? We have access to the determination and ability to make a good start. Let’s ramp up and get as far as we can before Mercury retrogrades on April 9th and sends us back to review.
Rhetoric intensifies, and so do our thoughts: we can see things in black and white instead of a more honest shading. If a person feels cornered, they can become truly active and storm the bastille, or get depressed if it’s a smaller, more personal corner. But we can pour this intensity into anything we do. Any sign of progress will improve the mood.
Monday, March 20: Now we’re cooking. The Sun enters pro-active Aries on this the vernal equinox, the first day of spring and the Moon enters competent, controlling Capricorn, we have efficiency to follow through what we begin, if we can get the energetic elements together, otherwise we can rebel against ourselves, or try to control the uncontrollable, and loose our momentum in tension.

We’Moon Lunar News – March 12, 2017

Daylight Savings Time 2am the 12th

  • Full Moon in Virgo the 12th
  • Mercury moves into Aries Monday
  • Moon moves through:
    Virgo / Libra / Scorpio

Moon: inward sense of self, emotions, psyche
Mercury: communication, travel, thought
Everything that flows moves in rhythm with the Moon. She rules the water element on Earth. She pulls on the ocean’s tides, the weather, female reproductive cycles, and the life fluids in plants, animals and people. She influences the underground currents in Earth energy, the mood swings of mind, body, behavior and emotion. The Moon’s phases reflect her dance with Sun and Earth, her closest relatives in the sky. Together, these three heavenly bodies weave the web of light and dark into our lives.

Assess, analyze and organize, under the intelligent and perceptive Virgo Moon. It’s time to heal, weed, edit and discern. The vibe is thoughtful, sensitive, health-oriented, compassionate and particular; we need to keep our eyes not on what we want to throw away, but what we want to keep and nurture.

Use this week to prepare for the vibrant spring ahead. Let’s clean our flowerbeds and rake the yard, rake our emotional issues and political secrets out of the corners and send them to the compost. Clear the ground, study, restock, complete work of the mind, body, and soul.
If we’re honest with ourselves, we probably know what we need to do this coming season, if not exactly how or where.
Though this will probably be a busy week, we may feel that end of winter, Sun in Pisces, low energy, so let’s pace ourselves. Energizing Mars has just moved into steady Taurus which gives us more physical endurance than enthusiasm. Even though Venus retrograde in Aries keeps our hearts volatile we still need time to replenish in the dream world and let our psyches integrate all that’s been going on.
The Moon enters industrious Virgo for the weekend and reminds us to get our work done. Mental Mercury squares serious Saturn this weekend and lets our mind perseverate and worry a pattern which is compounded by a full Moon in introspective, edgy Virgo. Turn this mental activity towards learning, studying, solving a problem, or reading a complicated book to keep it from degenerating into anxiety. Use those mental muscles in a good way so they don’t just spin in circles.
When Mercury enters brash Aries on Monday a we’ll jump to conclusion more easily and grow more verbally impetuous…
Monday the 13th: It can be a relief to get back to work this morning after a complicated weekend People need a little tender loving care and reassurance; do not tap dance on their insecurities. Our minds speed up and the filters may come off our conversation as Mercury enters Aries and injects cosmic caffeine later in the day.

Crow Full Moon March 12, 2017

Crow Full Moon March 12, 2017

Crow Full Moon March 12, 2017

The Full Crow Moon on Sunday March 12, 2017 is at 22 degrees Virgo. The Full Moon March 2017 astrology reveals an increase in recent tensions. Stressful relationships between partners and between nations will see a flurry of activity in a desperate search for answers. Bringing in God’s perfect Love and Light will calm down the emotions.

The full moon in March has many different names due to its signifying changing from winter to spring. It’s Time to Set Yourself Free from the Restraints of Winter and Swim to the Moon!

The full moon is an ideal time for ceremonies and rituals to promote friendship and working with others.  You can use healing rituals if you have had problems with family and friends. Visualize your life and relationships in balance.

The Native American full moon names for March are largely based on these being considered the last full moons of winter; the crow caws its farewell to the season. The more northern tribes knew this Moon as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. In Native American Medicine the Crow represents: Justice, shape shifting, change, creativity, spiritual strength, energy, community sharing, and balance.

Full Worm Moon (Algonquian Name) – As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation.

In the grand flow of life, these inward moving energies are conducive for fine tuning and helping to bring greater clarity, awareness, and focus. March is the month to bring love and light into your life. Focus every day silently for at least five minutes on the word Love and think about its true meaning. God is love.

March 2017 Virgo Full Moon: Unlocking a Head Over Heart Matter

March 2017 Virgo Full Moon: Unlocking a Head Over Heart Matter

The March 2017 Virgo Full Moon story will peak on March 12th, 2017.

When it does, as well as the days preceding it, a head over heart matter will take center stage. That’s what happens when the signs of Virgo and Pisces get in the astrological ring together. Sometimes our hearts want what our heads are telling us is never going to happen.   It’s a balancing act that is tough to master but one that arrives fast and furiously this month.

Many people don’t realize that there are always two signs in play at the time of the Full Moon. Each month the signs take turns coming up head to head with their polar opposite. They come with their own personal baggage and always seem to have a hard time seeing eye to eye. They are opposites, after all, and believe in two totally different things!

Here’s an excerpt from Member Horoscopes surrounding the details of this March 2017 Virgo Full Moon:

The truth behind the façade is that opposites need each other and attract the quickest. One of the secrets of the laws of attraction is that people we attract to most, are indeed our polar opposite. It’s like our souls know what we’re missing. Our opposite completes us in ways that we never could. We hate them but love them at the same time.

Each time a Full Moon comes around, we get a chance to encounter two totally different energies and balance things out again.

Full Moons are a perfect time to get in touch with something we might be missing —including an awareness factor.

Our ability to see things in full focus is always higher during Full Moon moments. It’s important to be mindful of the energies in play – in order to make good use of them.

The signs of Virgo (head/logical realm) and Pisces (heart/feelings realm) will be trying to find a balance.

Virgo is the realm of logic, organization, precision and details.  It’s great at noticing the details and getting things organized to a T.  Pisces, on the other hand, cares a lot less about the details and loves swimming in a ton of feelings and letting her creative energy flow.  It’s great at lending a helping hand, coming to the rescue of someone in need and finding beauty in imperfection.

The energy of this Full moon is going to captivate the essence of both signs and push us to find the right balance in our own lives.  Some of us might be more inclined to jump over to the logical realm because it’s easier to do the practical thing.  While others will have a hard time pushing those darn feelings aside and get pulled into doing what their heart wants.

I’ll be honest and share that the scales are going to be a little (well really A LOT) out of whack.

The reason behind that is because there is going to be a heck of a lot more Pisces going on than Virgo. There will be 4 bodies (3 planets and 1 asteroid) in Pisces. Virgo is only getting the Moon’s love. But the Moon is getting a ton of support out of powerhouse Pluto while all those Pisces planets are emotionally vulnerable.

Some other things to consider ….

The Wounded Healer, Chiron, will also be VERY influential during this Full Moon.  Chiron is an asteroid who symbolizes our deepest hurts as well as the scars that have healed them.  Issues of the past may resurface and need to be addressed again. This is especially this case when it comes to relationships of the past.

Communications could also be tested as we see our way through.

Mercury, the planet that likes to have his say, is going to be tested by the Moon as well. There is a struggle to communicate our feelings in a way that makes sense.
With Venus in the throws of her retrograde, I have no doubt that some of us out there are going through some relationship drama. This Full Moon could mark an important awareness time in where things stand.

7 Ways The Moon May Influence Your Health

7 Ways The Moon May Influence Your Health

Whenever there’s a full Moon, we hear from many of our readers that things go a little off-kilter out in the world — kids act a bit crazier, people are more impatient, and more. Even the word “lunatic” stems from the Latin word luna, meaning Moon, and there’s plenty of evidence to support that erratic behavior does occur in some people around the time of a full Moon.

But mood and behavior are not the only things the Moon seems to influence. Here are 7 interesting things researchers have found regarding the Moon and its effects on your health.

1. Heart
Can the Moon’s cycles have an affect on your heart? Apparently so, but not in the romantic sense.  A study published in the Indian Journal of Basic and Applied Medical Research found that when exercising, your heart is at its peak performance during a full and new Moon. So check the phases of the Moon before hitting the gym!

2. Brain
Much like the Moon is responsible for the ebb and flow of tides, since our brains are a significant source of water, Dutch researchers hypothesize the Moon’s gravitational pull could similarly have an effect on your brain, causing erratic behavior.

Other studies by British scientists reveal that a full Moon may actually decrease seizure activity in epileptics. In these cases, however, researchers suggest it may be the due to brightness of the Moon rather than its phases. When the Moon was bright, participants had fewer epileptic seizures. They attribute this to the hormone melatonin, which is naturally secreted in your brain when the Sun goes down, hence signaling it’s time to sleep. In epileptics, they surmise, the brightness of the full Moon counters this release, thus decreasing seizures.

We also hear from our Facebook fans all the time: complaints of headaches and migraines around the time of the full Moon. While no scientific correlation is made between migraines and the full Moon, full Moons can disrupt sleep (see #4) which, in turn, disrupts hormone levels, thus triggering headaches.

3. Kidneys
A 2011 study published in the Journal of Urology found that kidney stone pain increased significantly during a full Moon. And in another study, English researches found that generally, more patients were admitted to hospitals with urological emergencies during this time, too. Conversely, the new Moon caused a “calming effect” for people with these conditions.

Coincidence? Maybe not. One theory behind these conclusions is that the kidneys, like other organs and the human body itself, are made up of about 60 percent water, and just as lunar activity can affect our oceans, creating powerful and predictable tides, the Moon may affect the workings of these organs, causing a noticeable ebb and flow in times of calm and pain. Not all researchers agree, but there is enough evidence that additional studies are in the works.

4. Sleep
A 2013 study published in Current Biology reviewed the sleep patterns of participants over three days in which they were allowed to fall asleep at will in a controlled area that had neither clocks nor outside light. When the data was compared to the phases of the Moon, researchers determined participants not only had lower melatonin levels during bright Moon phases, but they also took 5 minutes longer to fall asleep, slept 20 minutes less in general, and had 30 percent less REM sleep. And if you’re not getting enough sleep, your health suffers.

5. Menstrual Cycle
A woman’s average menstrual cycle is 28 days, which is quite similar to the 29+ day lunar cycle. This timing may be more than coincidence according to Chinese researchers who discovered that almost 30 percent of all the women monitored ovulated at the full Moon and menstruated during the new Moon. In some cultures there is even a name for this phenomenon, called White Moon Cycle, that essentially mirrors the fertility of the Earth which is said to be most fertile under full moonlight.

6. Increased Birthrate
Japanese researchers discovered something interesting: there was a significant increase in the number of births when the gravitation of the Moon to the Earth was most powerful. While researchers admit they are still unclear on exactly how or why this relationship exists, they say it might help healthcare professionals and pregnant women better prepare.

Additionally, one Italian study examined more than 1,200 births over three years and found a higher number of babies born in the two days after a full Moon.

7. Increased Injuries
Since the full Moon can affect our behavior in certain ways, it should come as no surprise that we are more prone to accidents or illness during this time, according to some. One 2011 study published in World Journal of Surgery found that over 40 percent of medical personnel believe in “Full Moon Madness” among patients. It was also revealed that emergency calls for all sorts of conditions actually increases by 3 percent whenever there’s a full Moon, and then drops by 6 percent during a new Moon.

In 2008 British researchers found a link between the lunar cycle and what doctors call “medically unexplained stroke symptoms,” where patients develop complaints such as headaches, numbness and co-ordination issues but have nothing physically wrong with them.
