February 2016 Spiritual and Magical Properties of Essential Oils, Fragrance Oils, and Herbs

On a winter’s day
—a quote from “A Summer’s Day, by Mary Oliver

I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
Into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
How to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
Which is what I’ve been doing all day long.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life? . . .

Aquarius Sun and Moon
Monday the 8th —Lunar Imbolc & New Moon in Aquarius
We’Moon Weekly Starcodes

by Heather Roan Robbins

On Monday the new Moon in collaborative Aquarius helps us launch into a cooperative and creative time. Use that social restlessness to make new contacts, particularly in the line of work, politics, or some shared passion. Feel a new chapter beginning, reassess allies and friendships to see who to bring in closer to support a new chapter.
Midweek a Pisces Moon can leave us emotionally squishy, sensitive but newly able to make some creative or aesthetic decisions. Our hearts stay a bit softer, possibly more willing to see the good in others as Venus trine’s Jupiter, but as easily hurt if our openness is taken advantage of. Mars is spending a very long time in Scorpio this year, and gives us an extra stinger if we feel disrespected.

Lunar Imbolc & New Moon in Aquarius

We note Lunar Holy Days observed in ancient Celtic practice on the new or full moon closest to what are now date-fixed cross-quarter days. Seasonal celebrations of most cultures cluster around these same natural turning points:

New Moon in Aquarius

Aquarius Moon by day: Relax, check in with community, network; the vibe is friendly, open-minded but stubborn, political but not intimate. Have meetings, work with teams, discuss philosophy, find new allies and common goals, just keep emotional expectations light.

Essential Oil Recipe for New Moon in Aquarius

This recipe will help to calm and relax you; allow you to open your heart and mind to the creative vibes occurring during this New Moon.

This full moon is on the date of 222, which in Angel numbers this means keep the faith, that all of the letting go and releasing that you are doing is on the right path! This is the most Cleansing Moon of the year. Time to let go.  On February 22, 2016 – no matter where you are on Earth, look eastward as soon as darkness falls for the February full moon! Then watch for the dazzling planet Jupiter to follow the moon into the eastern sky somewhat after nightfall but by early evening.

February’s full moon is also known as the Snow Moon, Ice Moon, Hunger Moon, and Cleansing Moon. Native American tribes of the north and the east called it the snow moon as it use to be the time that the greatest amount of snowfall came. The name Hunger moon refers to the difficulty to gather food this time of year. The Celts called it the Moon of Ice.

This moon represents the coming of spring. It’s the time when the seeds start stirring to life under the cold ground. The farmers start planning crops for their gardens. The animals will start to feel their young in their bellies as they are readying for their spring births. The long sleepy winter is finally ending and the earth is in its early awakening to the longer days in the warmth of the sun.

A simple ritual you can do on the full moon to invoke the angels.  Light a White or silver candles which suggest the lunar powers, though you can use any color that evokes your ideal of high energy or fulfillment. Large, spherical glow candles would be nicely symbolic. For candle scent, anointing oil, or incense, the fragrances that seem to be most popular for Full Moon blends are lavender, sandalwood, frankincense, lemon, and, rose.  Though any pleasing fragrance will do. A simple prayer of thanks and gratitude will bring about untold blessings.

Focus on new beginnings of your dreams and goals for this year. Work to realize where you past mistakes may have been, forgive and love yourself, and plan for your future. Ask the Creator for blessings for all on this planet.

Full Moon Blessings,

Cherokee Billie

Happy-Leap-Day 2016

 Leap Year Day—Monday Feb. 29th

Leap Day

comes in quiet like some ordinary day

the rising tide of light

washes up on the shores of morning

now indigo . . . now easter blue

spirit returns from the adventures of night

and leaps into—rock, deer, tree, you, me.

Our fiery star leaps

up onto the ridge

throwing the glow of life

all over everything

giving us one more chance

to leap

from everyday mind into

the wonder of being!

Rub the sleep

out of your eyes

leap into your body,

your life

into this very day

where there are

a thousand ways

to know love

and Spring is a promise

that will be kept.

Waning Half Moon in Sagittarius—Tuesday March 1st
Sagittarius
After a slow Monday morning the energy picks up as the Moon enters Sagittarius and we rely on people who have been there for us in the past, or seek elements from our history as Venus sextile Saturn. We need to pick up the ball again quickly even if we dropped it while we processed over the weekend, reassure one another of our dependability and follow through on the work at hand. . .
