What Aromatherapy Can Do For You
by Debra Mauldin, Certified Aromatherapist
Pure essential oils can provide us with a range of benefits. Aromatherapy used as Holistic Therapy, along with a healthy lifestyle, can help heal illness. Plant remedies and essential oils have a long tradition of providing therapeutic benefits. Most have been confirmed by modern scientific research.
Essential Oils are readily absorbed through the skin and olfactory system allowing them to therapeutically benefit the psyche.
Physiologically, essential oils influence the functions of organs and tissues, and help regulate the endocrine system. Aromatherapy works by influencing the body, mind, and spirit. It can benefit babies, children, women, men, and the elderly.

Essential Oils have the ability to affect our emotional responses as well as the physical conditions of our bodies. This is because the Limbic System, which is concerned with emotion, is connected to the Olfactory Nerves in the nose; aromas can therefore evoke immediate and powerful responses in the brain.
Inhaling the delicate scents lightly is sufficient to induce an emotional response.
This page, ‘General Effects of Essential Oils on Different Body Systems’, is a work in progress.
