October Spiritual and Magical Properties of Essential Oils, Fragrance Oils, and Herbs
Welcome to October~
Powerful energies this month lovely souls.
Feels the energies of dark and light are clashing particularly hard this month with a dash of rainbow fiery colours and patterns trying to birthed amongst the clash.
I would describe it as a bi-polar month, incredible power packed highs and deep dark earthy lows.
It really is about learning to manage the energies, most important to give both space and a voice to be fully expressed, both are vital in the rebirthing process.
You will be changed..how is up to you, you can’t go into a washing machine without getting bashed about a bit
But you will either come out feeling cleansed and fresh..or wrinkled and exhausted..you have a choice
Take care of yourself
Eat nourishing foods
Drink nourishing drinks
Dance
Sing
Paint
Write
Meditate
Bathe
and most importantly accept yourself..fully, the ups and the downs, let them sing and dance together, thats where the deepest and most profound healing can enter

MERCURY RETROGRADE
It’s that time again ladies and gents. Mercury will go retrograde October 4th to October 25th through Scorpio and Libra. A lot of people associate Mercury Retrograde with complications and chaos and while this can definitely be true, as always I think its important to harness the energy any transit brings to the table. It’s usually advised not to sign any contracts, initiate any new projects, buy any appliances or electronics etc during this but one thing mercury retrograde IS good for is slowing down the pace. Any retrograde period is about taking a look back and reviewing where we just came from. With Mercury going retrograde in Scorpio this is even more so the case. You may find yourself reliving pains, difficult lessons or struggles you have overcome. With Mercury going retrograde in the watery sign of Scorpio and in the sign of Libra it will be an excellent time to review interpersonal lessons and review the balance in relationships. Pay attention to your reflections and emotional insights from the year. Think of this retrograde as a time to do research and gather information (Scorpio) needed to move forward and hit the ground running once Mercury goes direct again at the end of the month.

October Full Moon, Eclipse, and Meteor Shower
If you’re prone to tilt your head and howl at the moon, like the great hunters, the coyotes, October 8 will be the only night this month when the moon will be visible in the sky all night long. Just be mindful of the neighbors when you howl!
All you Moon Lovers Mark your calendars! The night sky of October 2014 is going to provide a delightful view for sky gazers. The tenth month of the year is going to present celestial wonders. In the new month, sky watchers can enjoy array of astronomical events including two eclipses, two meteor showers, Uranus at opposition and more. Total Lunar Eclipse: On Oct. 8, 2014, sky watchers can witness total lunar eclipse which will soon be followed by partial solar eclipse on Oct. 23. The second of total lunar eclipse tetrad will occur before the dawn.
Draconids Meteor Shower: This astronomical event occurs on Oct. 8 and 9. Sea Sky reports it is a “minor” one that merely produces 10 meteors per hour. However, the brightness of the full moon may become a hindrance for the sky watchers wanting to enjoy the meteor shower. For the best view, one should retreat to a place away from “city lights” at the middle of the night.
In sky lore, the Northern Hemisphere’s Hunter’s Moon on October 7-8 will be called a Blood Moon. Plus the October 7-8 total lunar eclipse – the second of four total lunar eclipses in the ongoing lunar tetrad – has been widely called a Blood Moon. Voila. Double Blood Moon.
To the Native Americans full moons were a way to keep track of the seasons and make appropriate preparations for survival. Besides, with falling leaves and the fattening of wild game, also preparing for winter, who could argue that this month’s moon signaled a good time to go hunting. Hunter’s Moon the name for the full moon after the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon nearest the September 23 autumnal equinox. This year, the Harvest Moon came on September 9. That’s why October’s moon bears the name Hunter’s Moon.
The Hunters Full Moon is also called the Shedding Moon, Blood Moon, or the Falling Leaf Moon. Coming right before Samhain/Halloween, it is a time when the nights are crisp and clear, and you can sense a change in the energy around you.
- The Gemstones are obsidian, amethyst and tourmaline.
- This is the time to give thanks to the animals, fruits, and vegetables during this moon for giving their lives so we can live.
- Use red candles and burn cinnamon, nutmeg or ginger as your incense.
This is the time when the veil between our world and the spirit world are at its thinnest. Use this time for spiritual growth. If there is a deceased ancestor you wish to contact, this is a great month to do it. Throughout October work on your spiritual self, and pay attention to messages you get in your dreams. Plan a ritual to remember those who have passed from this world, and be sure to make an offering to them.
As for Halloween night, the moon, if visible at all will be just a thin sliver, adding to the mystery of the night.
The full moon is always a good time to pray, have ceremonies, and be reminded of the continuation of life. Enjoy my friends.
Full Moon Blessings,
Cherokee Billie

Full Hunters or Blood Moon Oil
Blend together the following fragrance oils into 1 ounce of carrier oil:
15 drops Apple Blossom
15 drops Cherry
15 drops Strawberry
Swirl gently until all oils are thoroughly blended before each use.
Use during the full moon period (the day of, three days prior, and three days after).
You may use this oil as a body perfume, for anointing candles, and/or in Aroma Lamps, Diffusers, or Oil Burners (3 to 5 drops)
*I do not recommend using this blend in the bath as it only contains fragrance oils that can be too harsh on delicate body parts.
Waning Half Moon in Cancer — Wednesday
excerpted from We’Moon 2014 p. 17
excerpted from We’Moon 2014 p. 18
Prepare for a great release and awakening in power as this week’s solar eclipse and New Moon in Scorpio makes its powerful effect on the encounters of personal lives. The partial solar eclipse, occurring Oct. 23, 2014, is said to be the beginning of great relief to many signs and when the eclipse hits its peak, 48% sun visibility will be present.
On the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun.
What we’ll see is a partial solar eclipse, where the Moon passes along a chord of the Sun’s face, never completely blocking it out. At maximum eclipse the Sun will look like a thick crescent, the dark disk of the Moon moving across it.
This is a very cool event, and it favors Canada and the United States; it’ll be visible in nearly the entirety of both countries. The exception is the extreme.
This being the final eclipse of the year, people will begin to have a greater understanding of the struggles they have recently experienced. The eclipse will highlight transformative rebirths and have an effect on situations involving investments and the financial status occurring within relationships.
This rare eclipse signifies the lighting up of the soul and, as a soul lights, it becomes all of that which it really is, enabling it to cut through fears and doubts which may have previously held back the individual’s progress.
The new moon is about starting with an empty clean slate; it is the conception of an idea to become birthed into life with the coming full moon.
Use this time wisely.
- This is a time of new beginnings!
- Die to the old to begin again!
- Use this energy to discover what has been holding you back.
- Plant seeds of manifestation.
- Harness the energy of all things of beauty.
New moon blessings,
