Rose Quartz Promotes Self Love

“At the heart of personality is the need to feel a sense of being lovable without having to qualify for that acceptance.”
— Dr. Paul Tournier

How do you see yourself as unlovable?

Take a few minutes to write down why you perceive yourself to be unlovable. Look at the list and see if you can identify where those characterizations originated. Can you pinpoint old messages from parents, teachers, and friends that led you to negative conclusions about yourself? Are those messages valid today?

The beliefs we adopt as children usually don’t hold when we view them objectively as adults. Can you let them go? Can you begin to see yourself as a unique expression of life, a genuine gift to the world?

“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
— Buddha

“Limitless like the ocean are your excellent qualities.”
— Dalai Lama

ARE YOU HAPPY? By D. B. Mauldin

Happiness is a ‘fuzzy concept’ meaning different things to different people. Happiness is often described as an emotional or mental state of well-being. It is characterized by pleasant or positive emotion ranging from contentment to joy. Happiness is of such importance to the human condition that it was deemed to be an unalienable right by the United States Declaration of Independence; “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. Happiness is considered a virtue.

Biological, philosophical, psychological, and religious thinkers define happiness, not as an emotion, but in terms of living a good life or flourishing.

Some research groups apply the scientific method to answer the question, “What is happiness?” Economics simply measure public happiness. Emotional reports distinguish a positive or a negative affect, but many regard positive and negative affects to carry different information and needs to be measured and analyzed separately.

The ‘2012 World Happiness Report’ stated subjective well-being measures and primary distinctions are between cognitive life evaluations and emotional reports. Happiness is used in life evaluations, (How happy are you with your life?), and emotional reports, (How happy are you?).

Happiness and positive emotions benefit long-term health. Well-being was found to produce an overall lower cortisol level, lower plasma fibrinogen levels, and lower heart rates. Happy people live 14% longer, increasing longevity 7.5 to 10 years.

Are you happy? Don’t answer too quickly. Sit with this question for a long time and you’ll be introduced to brand new dimensions of who you are and of what matters in your life.

“It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.”
– Agnes Repplier

“Happiness comes only when we push our brains and hearts to the farthest reaches of which we are capable.”
– Leo C. Rosten

Let’s Think (Day 10)

Lets Think! (Day 10)
Posted by Project FireStarter on April 29, 2013

Hey Firestarters how are you doing this amazing Monday afternoon!

I have a question I’d like us to think about today. What is you’re definition of a family? What is required to have a family?

Do people need to be legally related?

Must the family include children?

Must it include a marriage in some way?

Here’s what I think…

The definition of a family is “A group consisting of parents and children living together in a household” which is true because you have you’re neutral family of mom dad you and maybe a sibling that live together as a unit.

I have, like I said, a mom dad and a sister and we all live together in a house though we’re more roommates than a family at this point haha. But I also have another family. My girlfriend, Mason and Me, we are a family and we stick together and take care of each other through anything thick and thin.

My definition of a family is any group of people that love each other, take care of each other and stick together.

Do you have a family like that?

A group of close friends?

I would even say soldiers in the military are a family

I hope you enjoyed this entry! Leave a ‘Like’ and a ’Comment’ if you would like to share you’re insight on what a family is, or if you have suggestions for future posts!

Have an amazing day and keep thinking everyone!
I would have to go with you, Jacob, and say, ‘A family is two or more people that love each other, take care of each other, and stick together through good times and bad’.

Let’s Think (Day 9)

Lets Think! (Day 9)
Posted by Project FireStarter on April 24, 2013

Hey Firestarters!

I hope you all are having a great day! My days have been going by really fast since I graduated, it’s gotten to the point where i forget if it’s Wednesday or Saturday haha.

Lets Think About…

Life is so short, so why do we do so many things that we don’t like? We are estimated to live to about 80 years old in America, that may seem like a long time to some but time really flies. It feels like just yesterday I was a ten year old little kid with a chili bowl hair cut and some overalls, and now I’m almost an adult about to make an impact on the world. The clocks ticking, are you using this time on earth to do something you love? Or are you living for something you dread?

Lets start to say ‘Why Not‘ to things instead of ’I Can’t‘ don’t let anyone or anything stop you from what makes you happy.

If thats working at a different place, try to work there.

Playing golf, go play a couple of holes.

Watching price is right and eating puff cheetos, theres probably a marathon on somewhere on TV.

For me it’s

Independence, A secure future for my education, and Blogging. I graduated high school, have the availability to the college I really want to go to and I have all the time in the world to work on the blog!

Do what makes you happy, don’t wait for happiness to fall into you’re lap, go get it.

Have an amazing, fulfilling day everyone! Stay happy and smile more!
When I turned ’50’, I was very depressed and had a hard time with the fact that, in all probability, my life was more than half over. What did I have to show for it? I did have 3 beautiful daughters and, at that time, 3 lovely grandchildren. I also had a body that was starting to fall apart from 32 years of hard labor, overtime, and working jobs that I didn’t want to work, but had to. I couldn’t think of anything other than the above mentioned and my wonderful hubby, to show for it.
Admittedly, I was a workaholic. I didn’t know any other way. I did learn to think of things that were important to me like spending more time with my family, spend more time in Nature, have fun and learn to laugh.
It was a process and sometimes I still feel pulled between things I have to do and don’t like and simple things I love to do. I have learned that the dishes will still be there waiting to be put into the dishwasher, the lint on the floor will still be there waiting to be swept, the dust will still be there waiting to be dusted, and the cobwebs will still be there waiting to be removed.
In the meantime, there are kisses to be given and received, hugs to be given and received, laughter to be heard and laughter to join in. So many little things that I have found since I have slowed down a bit.
