Daily Prompt: Fight or Flight

When faced with confrontation, do you head for the hills or walk straight in? Was there ever a time you wished you’d had the opposite reaction?
I avoid confrontation as much as possible, so I guess you could say I head for the hills. There are several times I wish I’d had the courage to jump right in and speak my mind, but I prefer peace. So, Peace it is as much as I can make it.
My family has been going through a difficult time, with two of our daughters barely speaking, for nearly a year now. Lot’s of tension and conflict. It was tearing me apart, so I finally just had to say, ‘Look, I love you both but you all, (spelled ya’ll down here in the south 🙂 ), are going to have to work this out. I am not going to be in the middle,’ and stepped back from the situation. It still bothers me, but not like being in the middle and trying to work it out, was. I guess that’s why I have so much anxiety, I’m always in the Flight mode.

I sympathize with you. I’m a pretty non-confrontational person as well, and when confronted, then to talk things to death.

I hope your daughters can resolve their issues. It’s horrible to live with constant anxiety. Good for you for being able to step back though! Not everyone could do so.

Thanks Trisha. I hope it gets resolved too, but I think it is going to get worse before it gets better. I knew I had to or I was heading toward another nervous breakdown. 🙂

You were very wise to let your daughters work things out on their own. I pray they make amends with one another, and I pray you have peace in the midst of this storm. God bless you!
