December 2015 Spiritual and Magical Properties of Essential Oils, Fragrance Oils, and Herbs

New Moon – December 11, 2015

New Moon2 is a time to embrace change and uncover truth.

It’s hard to believe that this is our last New Moon of the year, and it’s in the wonderful sign of Sagittarius. This year has just flown by.  Sagittarius influence gives our spirit a lot of color and dimension. So, maybe that gives you some idea of how this New Moon might feel!

I’ve got suggestions for how to use this New Moon to your advantage. Let’s go!

This is the Moon of Rest and Beginnings. This last New Moon of the year is especially powerful. This is a good time to say goodbye to the old and embrace something new. It’s a time to be more creative in your life. Be open to the creativity and allow all the inspiration into your life that this special time brings.

Allow new ideas to take growth. This New Moon is about planting the seeds of what you want to see manifest in your life in the coming New Year.  Write out your intentions for this new cycle. Make a ceremony of some sort. It can be as simple as watching the sunset and sending out your intentions. Lighting a candle. Making a special meal. Embrace the new!  Do something that shows the reverence you have for the Divine Spirit.

This is a wonderful opportunity to let go of all disappointments, regrets, and dissatisfaction from the past year. These energies keep you from moving forward in your life. It’s time to transition into the new you!

The New Moon brings the energy to lead ourselves into better situations and conditions over the next lunar month.

This is a soothing time of rest and planning for new beginnings; New Year, new growth; love, the beginning of or renewing of; bringing things in; regeneration; give thanks. This is a time of new beginnings and new undertakings. It can be a starting point for kicking that bad habit, or simply beginning a project. Put ideas in motion, become engaged, and make long term relationship plans. This is a time of spontaneous and instinctual action. This is a time when efforts will grow visible. Transitions may seem to be accepted more calmly than other phases. This is a good time for hair cuts to promote growth, medical treatments or getting your money’s worth from that facial!

Set new goals and review the old ones to let go of.  Using a Burning Bowl Ceremony can be helpful to releasing the past.  This is a time of change. So do it now!

Lunar News—December 21, 2015
Monday the 21st: Winter Solstice/Sun goes into Capricorn

Moon moves through Taurus/Gemini/Cancer
December 21 Solstice/Winter: returning of the light—Kwanzaa (African-American), Soyal (Hopi), Jul (Scandinavian), Cassave/Dreaming (Taino), Chanukah (Jewish), Christmas (Christian), Festival of Hummingbirds (Quecha). Goddess Festivals: Freya (Norse), Lucia (Italy, Sweden), Sarasvati (India).
The Sun represents our soul purpose. It is what we are here on Earth to do or accomplish, and it informs how we go about that task. It answers the age-old question “Why am I here?”
The Moon
represents our capacity to feel or empathize with those around us and within our own soul as well. It awakens our intuitive and emotional body.

Winter Solstice
SHE who Laughs, Lasts
That’s what’s so great about trees! They are the only species where so many individuals are older than you! In the dark inspiration that marks Winter Solstice, find a tree. Place your palms upon her, slow down, and seek counsel. Take in this elder’s survival story; let the patterns in your mind mirror the patterns she shows in bark and branch—yule feel tree wisdom swaying your own canopy. Honor your tree with a token, or—well, go ahead, you old tree hugger you, embrace her. Then, take a wide stance. Raise your arms. Look up—invoke the return of the Sun!

A Prayer for Guidance Through the Darkness
Wild Woman, push us into the cauldron, swirling us into the darkest depths of the earth. Let us emerge with mud in our hair, snails on our feet, and lichen on our arms. Let owls, ravens, and starlings fly in our wake—wolves, cats, and snakes follow our footsteps. Let our spines become as thick and strong as the redwood.
Our power is endless. Our strength is staggering. Our creativity has no boundaries. Our possibilities are limitless.

Christmas full moon2 copia

Here’s good news to all who love a holiday delight. Santa Claus will have a rare treat to guide his sleigh with this year – bright light powered by a rare full moon on Christmas Day.

It will be the first full moon on Christmas Day since 1977. The Moon will be entirely illuminated by the Sun at 6:11 a.m. EST (11:11 a.m. GMT) on Friday December 25, so you will see the brightest Moon at night either side of that time. This comes three days after the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice, on Tuesday December 22.

This week is filled with blessings from The Divine. So take some time to stop in the midst of the chaos of the holidays and appreciate all of the spiritual blessings that are coming to us at this time.

December’s full moon is known as a “Full Cold Moon,” but it rarely falls on Christmas Day. NASA reports that the next full moon on Christmas won’t come until the year 2034, so if you want to see the rare treat, this year is the only option for a very long time.

Can you feel the tension, truth and emotions rise? This is the last full moon of the year and often gives way to a lot of emotions we have hidden! Not to worry!  Let the light into your heart and you will find your own truth. Find the spark of joy that is within you.

The Full Cold Moon is under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun. This full Moon is also called the Long Nights Moon by some Native American tribes. It is the month when the winter cold fastens its grip and the nights become long and dark.

The MOON is at her fullest and this one is a biggy! It’s all about our feelings being expressed and verbalized. Your head may feel a little busy and our sub-conscious is out on full show. What was hidden is now revealed and you will need to deal with it! We will all react differently to this. Some may feel exuberant and free, others tired and teary, some are hiding under the sheets, others shouting to the rooftops. So embrace whatever comes your way this night!

The December Full Moon is also known as Oak Moon, Cold Moon, Winter Moon, and Wolf Moon. This is the time of the Dark Lord, with the Oak being his symbol. It is the time of rebirth. The zodiac association is Sagittarius.

Clean and shine the diamond of your soul and let that light shine before everyone, so that people wonder as you pass by-what it was that just touched their soul.

This is a wonderful time of year and definitely the time to send out your dreams to the universe.  By doing this you will see the growth of what you have put out come springtime.

I wish all of my readers a happy holiday season, whether you celebrate one of the many festivals at this time of year or whether you are simply caught up in the cultural current of it all. Enjoy the cavalcade of lights. Let some of that peace and joy rub off on you. Find a corner of it all where you can contemplate, appreciate and illuminate your precious place in the Universe.

Full Moon Blessings,
Cherokee Billie
