Happy Sunday Social Day! I’ve missed a couple of weeks, but I’m back and trying to get on track. Life has been extremely busy, but the walls and ceilings are now painted. I’m still trying to get most of our stuff put back in place. This is going to be an out with the old and in with the new project.

Football! I enjoy the beauty of Fall and love to go for walks without sweating to death.

I follow the Geraldine Bulldogs in PeeWee; Oneonta Redskins (where I attended 9 years of school), Boaz Pirates (where I attended 4 years of high school and graduated from), Geraldine Bulldogs (where my daughters went to school and my granddaughters now attend), and all of the Cherokee County teams (because that is where I now live and my youngest daughter graduated from); College Teams I follow include: Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Jacksonville State Gamecocks (because both of my daughters graduated from JSU), Georgia Bulldogs (because my husband is from Georgia); and finally we get to NFL: New Orleans Saints, Go Mark Ingram!, South Carolina Panthers, Go Cam Newton!, Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, Chicago Bears, and Washington Redskins.
I think I covered them all!

Halloween is my favorite. I love all the decorations and candy! Thanksgiving because it is a time for family gatherings and being thankful. No traditions have been made on the two holidays, yet.

I loved my milk when I was a kid. I would be outside playing, get thirsty, and instead of getting water, I would drink milk. I kept a glass in the refrigerator, so it would always be cold.
One day I went inside and got a big drink of milk, only to discover that my mother (in an attempt to break me from the habit) had put buttermilk in my glass. I didn’t find it funny.

This Weeks Questions:

1. What is something you’ve always wanted to do but are afraid of?
The first thing that pops in my head is too color and highlight my hair. Of course, I have done that before, but I can’t think of anything else. It’s been 5 – 6 years since I have colored and highlighted my hair and it has gone, nearly, completely grey. I said something about it several months back and my granddaughters balked at the idea. Later, my middle granddaughter, whispered in my ear, “MeeMaw, you wouldn’t really get green and pink highlights in your hair, would you?”
I hugged her close and said, “No, baby. I was talking about dying it back to my natural light brown with my natural red highlights.”
She thought about that one for a minute, shrugged her shoulders, and walked off to tell her sisters.
That one left me wondering, though. Should I leave it, what is now, my natural grey or go back to my younger look?

2. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I am happily married and way beyond the ‘having a baby’ stage, but I do love carrying my grandbabies around on my hip, until they get too big, which includes three of them now. I don’t have puppies, but do have three dogs that are always clamoring for my attention.
I do hope to be a published author in five years; with several books on the market and more on the way.

3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2013?
Getting together some short stories and poems I have written, and publishing them in one book.

4. What are your hopes for your blog? That people read it. That people love it. That something I write helps someone. I have to agree with all of these and add: That my writing continues to improve. I’m also planning to start another blog or two.

5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city? I kind of feel stuck here right now. I have lived in the rural area of this small town for 14 years. I’m right in the middle of my two daughters. One lives an hour drive to the East of me and the other lives an hour drive to the West of me. My step-daughter and her family live in Kentucky, about a 5 – 6 hour drive, depending on the weather and traffic.

6. What is your morning routine?
I wake up pretty much when I wake up. If there is something important for that day; Doctor’s Appointments, etc…, I will set the clock.
I stumble to the restroom, then head to the kitchen to make coffee. While the coffee is brewing, I start up my laptop and check my email.
I have a routine of medications I take in the mornings:
1 when I first get up.
2 about an hour later.
8 more about an hour later.
All of the above has to be taken before I can eat.
I check my blood sugar level, eat breakfast, and take 2 more pills.
I usually write until lunch.

Hi gals and guys! Happy Sunday Social day! I’ve missed one or two Sunday’s, but I’m hoping life is getting back to it’s regular schedule soon.

This Weeks Questions:

1. When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a Singer until around age 14, then it changed to Secretary for a couple of years. Once I learned about journalism, around 16, I wanted to be a journalist. I started college, though, with intentions of being a Secretary. I worked awhile as a Secretary, but soon learned I was not going to earn enough money to keep up a family.
My long career as a factory worker began before I finished my two years of Community College. I tried going back several times, but found it too hard to work a full-time job, raise a family, and go to school. Over the years, I did manage to get a Certification in Secretarial Science. my Basic EMT license, a Certification in Aromatherapy, and last but not least an AS in Human Services. Yes, I had my sights set on being a Social Worker.
My last job, Homeless Children and Youth Liaison with the local school system, which was basic social work, broke me down mentally and physically. I was pursuing a License to Teach during that time and had a lot of grammar and literature classes behind me. When I came out of the fog long enough to think, I thought writing.
Writing was something I had always done, something I felt comfortable with, and so it is.

2. What was your favorite way to kill time as a kid?
While I did ride my bike a lot, talk to friends on the phone, watched some TV, and read a lot, my favorite activity was to roam the woods beside my house. That was never boring! Sometimes, I would take a book and lay upon my favorite rock and read. The whole day would be gone before I knew it.

3. When did you get your first cell phone?
Cell phone??? I was brought up on a party-line. How many remember that? Things did progress fast, however, once they began progressing. I believe I bought my first cell phone around 1997 – 1998? I know I had a pager in 1994. How many remember pagers?

4. What is your favorite magazine to read?
Family Genealogy, Writer’s and Poets, and Writer’s Digest

5. What is the one random object people would be surprised to find in your purse?
My ‘Medicine Bag’. It goes where I go.
