Astrological Overview 2019

Crank up the heat. We need to be on fire this year, but whether we feel the hearth fire of the gathering collective  . . up to us and how we use the aspects.
So, let’s bring that solar spark into our hearts and catch fire in the best of ways. We’ll need a spark as the social planets Jupiter and Saturn, and most of the outer planets that hold the cauldron of our present reality, head into grounded, concrete, territorial, earth signs.

. . . It’s helpful to know what the Sun is doing because her cycles synchronize with fluctuations here on earth; her pattern affects tree growth, crops, health cycles, and adjusts the volume on earthly events.  . . .
Solar aspects: The Sun progresses about a degree a day and makes its way through the 360° of the zodiac every year effecting different aspects. Solar aspects involve special and energetic relationships between the Sun and planets. We feel solar aspects building for 9 days before they peak, and resonating up to 7 days afterwards. The qualities of whatever planet the Sun aspects tinge the nature of this interaction, and all that pours through the filter of the Sun’s sign.

The mood is serious, impatient, with some growing concerns but also an underlying competence. We may need to come to grips with needed changes and the see the outlines of the work ahead as Mercury enters competent Capricorn tonight, followed by a new Moon with solar eclipse in determined Capricorn this weekend. The planet we associate with change, Uranus, turns direct this weekend and can increase seismic activity; either symbolically, politically, or geologically, we may feel an earthquake. . . . 

That new Moon eclipse in competent, responsible, if occasionally grim Capricorn on Saturday can both bring us back home to our roots and help us ask tough questions about personal responsibility and authority in our life and our culture. It calls us to take a clear look at our Dharma, our work, and asks what’s not working and needs to be released, and what has the potential to grow in the future. It’s a good time to make our real New Year’s resolutions for the disciplines that we’d like to shift in the new year and goals we’d like to aim for. Because Capricorn is a mountain goat, it encourages us to climb, or we may feel like we are sliding downhill.

Momentum picks up all across the board this week as motivating Mars, now in proactive and feisty fire-sign Aries, is joined by Venus in another restless fire sign, Sagittarius, on Sunday. If it’s time to leave dysfunctional situation and start anew, now is the time to do so but with a good plan in place. Venus and Mars in fire signs can bring out the hero in us all, the firemen and rescue worker, whether or not people want rescuing. . . . Mars in Aries is a good time to stay away from abusive people and help those who live around them, but most of us will feel this feistiness more positively, as an entrepreneurial can-do energy that allows us to get started.
