Imagine the holy days—the solar solstices and equinoxes, the lunar cross-quarter days—as sanctuaries. The original meaning of the word holy is “set apart.” In holy day time/place, we surrender our engagement with the outer world, go to be restored and renewed. . . .
In ritual and ceremony, we and the world are healed and strengthened. We go apart, shed encumbrance and distraction, invite the cooperation of unseen energies. We re-consecrate ourselves for our work in the world, create the world anew, once again.Still point of the dancing year, this conjunction of the longest night and shortest day calls us to remember the light hidden in the darkness. In all traditions, people gathered at this time of year to invoke light and warmth to restore the world to life. Beseeching bonfires called to the lights in the sky; singing, dancing, special food and drink warmed and strengthened the heart. . . . The darkness around us is deep, has never been fathomed, but we blow on the coal of our hearts, making of us golden rooms—keep vigil, watch and wait for the return of the undying light. rom We’Moon 2018 Introduction to the Holy Days pg 3& Winter solstice pg 178
Saturday: The moon is our inward sense of self, emotions and psyche. When in Pisces our introspection, imagination, sensitivity and intuition are enhances. We process and gestate our dreams Do you need to think? Talk? Travel? Choose a good relationship or aspect between Mercury and the Moon. They loan us speed and consciousness, the ability to think things through, help us bring our minds to any problem and find an answer. Tuesday: Challenging Moon/Venus aspects can bring social awkwardness, hot or cold emotions, longing, questionable aesthetics. Cure: perform a random act of kindness, diplomacy, art therapy. Wednesday: Do you need to work out? Take a stand? Get physical? Supportive Moon/Mars aspects give us strength, protectiveness, help us lift rocks, spark passion, establish clear boundaries. Thursday: Challenging Moon/Mercury aspects bring a tendency to get lost in the mind and inspire glitches in all things Mercurial; we can get more edgy, irritable, anxious, scattered, diffused, glib. Cure for Moon/Mercury discomfort: Reconnect mind and heart. Friday: The Sun represents our sense of self radiating outward our character, and ego. Capricorn hs a strong sense of family, history, dreams andtraditions. We need mountains to climb and problems to solve. Challenging Moon/Mars aspects instigate irritability, willfulness, anger, hurry, a competitive or contrary attitude. Cure: exercise, chop wood, take a brisk walk, acknowledge desires or frustrations, and then finesse that argument. Exercise awareness.excerptsadapted from Heather Roan Robbins‘ Sun Signs and Sun Transits © Mother Tongue Ink 2016 from We’Moon 2018 pg 226—excerpts Heather Roan Robbins—derived from her book Moon Wisdom © Cico Books, 2016—fromConstellate with the Moon — We’Moon 2018 pgs 15-17
excerpt by Heather Roan Robbins—Visit our Astology Connection page for the complete daily predictions for the week and an overview of the Year for the current SunSign. The mood is sensitive, potentially sentimental, even maudlin as the weekend begins. . . We may feel washed away on the tide of holiday lights at one moment and overwhelmed by rising seas and complicated humanitarian crisis in another. . . . Saturday afternoon brings fresh momentum as the Moon enters brash and independent Aries. . . . People are in deep metamorphosis these days, the stars are pushing us to shift and evolve, so let’s suspend assumptions about our beloveds, because they’ve probably changed since the last time we checked in. Let’s see if we can encourage their change rather than hold them to their old position. Conversely, if we ourselves are evolving and are no longer comfortable to the people around us, we need to stand our ground and model for them what it’s like to change and ameliorate our life. We don’t need to push our changes into their face, we just need to be authentically who we are in a calm and solid way. . . . Midweek, feel the urge to get materially comfortable. We may want to buy presents, make cozy things or eat cookies as the earthy Taurus Moon opposes Venus. . . . This December may be unusually tender, less extroverted than most winter holidays as the two emotional arbiters, Venus and Mars, remain in introspective and sensitive water signs all month, with Venus in Scorpio and Mars in Pisces. . . .
