Hazelwood Can Help Reduce Gout Pain

Kristen M. Miller

What is Gout?

Gout is a disease in which uric acid builds up the joints and causes pain. It was once called the “Rich Man’s Disease” because gout is brought on by a diet of rich foods, such as red meats, heavy sauces and gravies, fish and shellfish, and alcohol. Back in the olden days, only a rich man could afford to eat such foods, while the peasants ate mostly vegetables and poultry.  When a person eats these types of foods that are high in purine, the kidneys produce uric acid to breakdown the purine. Normally the uric acid is filtered out of the body through the kidneys, but if there is an excess of uric acid, it can collect in the joints and produce sharp pain and inflammation.

Gout can also be made worse by conditions such as being overweight, high blood pressure and diabetes. Certain medications, such as diuretics, can bring on gout attacks as well.  A gout attack can produce a sudden, sharp, needle-like pain in the joints, as well as swelling and tenderness that can last up to a week.  It is common for gout to attack the big toe joints, but it also attacks the ankles, wrists, knees, hands and feet.

What can you do?

When a gout attack occurs, a doctor may recommend steroids or other drugs to reduce pain and inflammation. A change in diet is also necessary to eliminate red meats, fish, alcohol, sugary drinks and fatty foods to prevent more gout attacks, as well as to lose weight.  Some holistic health practitioners also recommend eating cherries and taking Vitamin C to reduce uric acid levels in addition to deep breathing and relaxation to manage pain.

Another thing that may help the pain and inflammation of gout is a Hazelwood and Baltic Amber bracelet from BalticEssentials.com. Hazelwood is a woody shrub native to Canada that has been used by aboriginal healers for centuries to make the body more alkaline by absorbing excess acid.  Baltic Amber is fossilized tree resin from the age of the dinosaurs that is a natural anti-inflammatory.  Combining these two natural elements gives pain a one-two punch without extra medications, and consequently, without the unpleasant side effects of those extra medications.

If you’re suffering from gout and searching for relief, give Hazelwood and Baltic Amber a try- they just might have what it takes to bring your body back into balance and relieve your aching joints.

Therapeutic Quality, Hazelwood can take 1-2 weeks to see the full effect. Hazelwood works by creating a more alkaline environment in your body through direct contact with your skin, which may help to prevent and remedy many of the symptoms caused by acidosis (being too acidic) and by reducing free-radicals by having a high antioxidant effect through your pores. The wood absorbs excess acidity from your body until a balanced PH is reached. This has the potential to improve conditions caused by excess acidity, which can include skin issues such as eczema, internal gut issues such as ulcers, acid reflux, gerd, and heartburn.
