Douglas Fir Hydrosol

Pseudotsuga menziesii

Douglas Fir Hydrosol

With a soft forest-like aroma that has green and slightly balsamic undertones, Douglas fir hydrosol will transport you to the forest, encouraging deep breathing and meditation. This purifying hydrosol is ideal for cleaning products and creates gender neutral fragrance blends and body care products.

Forests notes, like Douglas fir, compliment most other hydrosols in different ways depending on personal preference. For a more feminine aroma blend with rose or geranium, to bring out the masculine notes of the fir blend with helichrysum, lemon verbena, or peppermint.

Our Douglas Fir Hydrosol is produced via water-steam distillation of Pseudotsuga menziesii leaf tips or needles.
Suitable for cosmetic use

The 3oz. and 8oz. sizes come in an amber glass bottle with a mister top. 16 oz. and 1 gallon bulk sizes come in plastic bottles without misters.

Note Classification

A rich oil with balsamic undertones and heavy vanilla honey top notes. Resinous and tenacious.

This beautiful oil brings warmth and comfort at first sniff, transporting you to the great outdoors. It is a wonderful fixative for forest notes, and creates a subtle base for floral blends without overpowering their delicate scents.

The sticky resin of poplar buds contain salicin, which your body converts to aspirin. All poplar trees here in North America have the same healing properties as their Old World counterparts. Poplar buds infused in oil are a traditional remedy for muscle soreness and headaches. Poplar Bud Absolute has an analgesic effect, and may ease tension.

Blends Well With

Needle oils such as black spruce, western red cedar, douglas fir and cypress, sour citrus oils such as grapefruit, lime or lemon, florals like rose, geranium and Roman chamomile. Other oils: palo santo, ho wood, davana, Atlas cedarwood, elemi, fennel, ginger and vetiver.

Herbal Miscellany

The common name of poplar buds, Balm of Gilead, is a Biblical reference to Mecca balsam, the source of healing balsamic oils in the Old World. This plant is also featured prominently in many Arab traditions.

Oil Specific: Avoid while pregnant.

Ylang Ylang Hydrosol

Cananga odorata

Ylang Ylang Hydrosol

This floral hydrosol is a subdued version of the essential oil, sweet and intoxicating, yet not as strong. Considered a calming and emotionally uplifting floral, ylang ylang makes a unique base for aroma blends for bedtime. In skin care it is prized for its balancing toner effects for combination or oily skin and irritations.

Ylang ylang blends well with lavandin, geranium, and lemon balm hydrosols. Essential oils to blend with this hydrosol include bergamot and other citrus oils, basil, other floral such as geranium or rose, ginger, lavender, vetiver, vanilla, and jasmine.

Our Ylang Ylang Hydrosol is produced via water-steam distillation of Cananga odorata flowers.
Suitable for cosmetic use
