Daily Prompt: Shake it Up
by Krista on February 24, 2014
You’re 12 years old. It’s your birthday. Write for ten minutes on that memory. GO.
I have no recall of my 12th birthday. The only birthday, I can remember, is my 21st birthday. It was special because my mom purchased a cake for me, with 21 red roses on it.
I do remember having a sleep-over birthday party when I was younger, but do not remember which birthday it was; it might have been my 12th. There were four or five girls that came and spent the night. We had a great time and, much to my parents irritation, we stayed up most of the night. My parents came in several times to quiet us down.
We played music on the record player and danced. We did a lot of silly stuff, too. I remember we had bubbles and blew them all in my room; with four or five of us blowing in one room, it filled the room with bubbles. We also got into my dad’s shaving cream. We put it on anyone who fell asleep. I think we finally did all fall asleep around dawn.
My parents said, “never again”, which made me sad at the time, but I was glad that I didn’t have to try to get that many girls to behave and be quiet ever again. I was a goody two-shoes and I hated to get in trouble over anything.
