Today’s Aromatherapy Tip of the Day: November 21, 2013 is Creating Your Spiritual Haven.

CREATING YOUR SPIRITUAL HAVEN

Among the wealthy in ancient Egypt, the preparation for prayer was very thorough. They had a separate room, which was sprayed with a scent very much like almond blossom, presumably one of the older varieties. Before prayers, they bathed and put on white raiments.
Likewise, all over the ancient world, people put aside a special place for the spiritual. There is nothing new in creating a spiritual haven; people all over the world still do it. Even the poorest home has a spiritual place set aside for prayer.
We create a spiritual haven so we can have a special place to focus on the spiritual and to contact the higher realms. It’s a place we will come back to time after time; to seek peace, focus our minds, clear our thoughts, pray, or just to be. It is a place where we can open our hearts to the love in the universe that waits to receive us. Aim to create a peaceful, restful place where the mind, body, and soul can concentrate on themselves and be whole. It will be a place where you can draw the angelic beings close and make your connection to the universe, and God.
Many of us do not have the luxury of having a whole room to spare, but we can usually find a corner somewhere; the living room, bedroom, study, and even the hall. Where it is, is not important. What is important, is that it is love; love in a house or place that makes it a lovely space to be in. It is the atmosphere of love that makes the haven spiritual. The vibrations of love, clear of negativity, carries prayer to its destination.
If you have never created a prayer space before, start by cleaning the area, and the whole room, thoroughly. Clean when you are alone. Play some uplifting music that fills you with optimism and joy. Clean everything, even inside closets and cabinets, and have every ornament in the room sparkling. While you clean, focus your mind on the Divine, and imagine beautifully colored lights streaming into the room.
When your sacred haven area is clean, think of what you will put in it; a small table of solid box, maybe cover it with a beautiful clean cloth, some favorite, precious things like: a gift from a friend, a drawing that makes love rise in your heart. Many people put a sacred picture at the back; standing or hanging. A plant brings life to the sacred space and will respond to love.
Add anything else that means something to you spiritually; crystals, stones, dried herbs, candles, incense burner, oil lamp, diffuser, or an oil burner.
Sit back for a moment and feel the love and peace you have created. Light a candle, which represents fire and spirit. Place 3 to 5 drops, (depending on size of space or room, you might wish to add more, up to 10 drops), essential oil into the bowl or dish of water and light the candle. This represents light and soul. Sit quietly, sensing the peace and restfulness. Ask for blessings on your spiritual haven.
Maintain your spiritual haven to keep negative energies away.

Next, we will discuss Heaven Scent.
