Today’s Aromatherapy Tip of the Day: November 4, 2013 is Anointing.
ANOINTING
Anointing was practiced by the ancient Egyptians, Mesopotamians, Persians, and Syrians, as well as by the Hebrews.
Mary Magdalene is sometimes called “The Patroness of Aromatherapy” because she famously anointed Jesus with spikenard.
Today, most of us have forgotten that fragrance is linked with Spiritual Practice. Yet, what does a woman do when she dabs perfume on her wrist but anoint herself? It seems a profoundly secular act, the height of indulgence, yet it finds echoes from our Spiritual Past, when people made themselves fragrant to be more acceptable to God.
We can make our own Spiritual Blends of Essential Oils. Spiritual Blends are intended to attract the Messengers of Heaven, and help us become closer to the Universal Whole. Anoint thyself with Spiritual Blends when carrying out our Spiritual Practice; Affirmations, Meditation, and/or Prayer.
Following are two recipes, that I personally use for my own Spiritual Practice.
Spiritual Blend #1
Blend together:
1/8 cup of your chosen Carrier Oil (I prefer Almond Oil)
5 drops of Cinnamon Essential Oil
5 drops of Geranium Essential Oil
5 drops of Patchouli Essential Oil
Swirl gently to ensure the oils are well mixed.
Use as an Anointing Oil, in an Aroma Lamp, in your Bath, and/or as a Body Perfume.
I use this blend when I am working on self-love. The warmth of this blend transforms sorrow into happiness and brings the realization that love is always there. We just need to tune into loves warm vibration.
Spiritual Blend #2
Blend together1/8 cup of your chosen Carrier Oil
5 drops Hyssop Essential Oil
5 drops Cypress Essential Oil
5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
Swirl gently to ensure the oils are well mixed.
Use as an Anointing Oil, in an Aroma Lamp, in your Bath, and/or as a Body Perfume.
I use this blend when I feel my heart and mind needs cleansing, openness, and Purifying. This protective blend uplifts the spirit to the realms of divine wisdom and the source of creation.
