Daily Prompt: Mid-Season Replacement
by michelle w. on October 11, 2013
For many of us the seasons are changing, bouncing unpredictably between cold and warm. Are you glad to be moving into a new season, or wishing for one more week of the old?
I love Fall. It is my favorite season. The colors, the smells, the fairs and festivals, the decorations, reach out and touch all of my senses. Halloween and Thanksgiving, good food, family, togetherness; I think about my ancestors and am thankful for everything and everybody.
Yesterday morning, I was outside at my daughter’s home. She has a nice, little, cozy place; just a couple of blocks from the main road, but she has an abundance of trees, in front, to the right side, and part of the back of her home, that makes it seem like her own little alcove away from the city. You know the city is there, you can hear it, but can’t see it. You know the neighbors are there, just on the other side of the trees, but you can’t see them.
Her little alcove includes: some big oak trees, walnut trees, mimosa trees, a very tall pine tree, and a host of other trees. I had made the statement to her, just a couple of weeks ago, that it would be nice to take a picture of the trees every week to document the changing of the seasons.
Anyway, walking outside yesterday morning, I noticed a few yellow leaves, (this was the first sign of change I had seen). But, as I looked up, I saw a lot of bright green, beautiful green, glowing green leaves as the sun shone on them. It was like their last Hoorah! Look at me! I’m still beautifully green!
I can’t wait to go back next week and see what changes have occurred. 🙂
Hopefully, I will remember to take my camera.
