Daily Prompt: Clean House

Is there “junk” in your life? What kind? How do you get rid of it?
~~~~~~~~
Is there “junk” in my life? Yes, lots of “junk”. Junk that I brought with me when I married a second time. Junk my husband already had before we married. After 14 years of marriage, it all accumulated into lots of junk.
I collected Angels, Fairies, Birds; most anything with Feathers. I collected Feathers, Pretty Rocks, anything Native American.
My husband collected Eagles, Native American Items, and had several collections of Mugs and Steins, from his time spent in Germany with the U. S. Army.
Drawers full of old key rings, old receipts, anything that might be of use on down the road. Our walls were full; every shelf full. It was to the point that I would think of dusting and then when I looked at it all, I just became overwhelmed. Later, when my health started deteriorating, I would get tired after 10 to 15 minutes of housework, sit down and rest, get up and go at it for another 10 to 15 minutes, rest, and the cycle would continue until I was completely worn out. Then I would be in bed for a day or two recovering.
So, when we decided to paint our living room and den walls and ceilings, we also decided to clear out the junk. We threw away a lot, packed up a lot to give away, packed up a lot to yard sale, and performed a complete home cleansing.
Now, our home is much brighter, the mood is much lighter, and everything is much easier to clean.
I’m glad your home is an easier and happier place to be since purging your “junk.”
It had to be done. It was just overwhelming, plus I’m making room for more grandchildren. 🙂
Love this. I’ve always been a minimalist and just feel happier when I don’t have a lot of stuff to worry about (or clean 🙂
I did this too a few years ago. I just got tired of having to clean all the time. Now it’s much easier and I’m much happier.
