Today’s Aromatherapy Tip of the Day: September 29, 2013 is Spikenard Essential Oil.
1 Essential Oil of Spikenard

Spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi)
Areas of Origin: China, Europe, India, Nepal, United States
Essential Oil is steam distilled from the root of the plant.
Color: Clear to Yellow
Aroma: Heavy, Woody
Effect: Cooling
Benefit: *Spikenard is one of the strongest Sedatives of all Essential Oil.*
NOTE: *Do Not Use if Pregnant!* *Do Not Use on Children!*

USES

Moods and Emotions – Relieves anxiety and fear; The most calming and grounding Essential Oil.
Musculoskeletal Injuries – Helps relieve lower back and leg pain.
Sleep Cycle – Tranquilizing, Sedating
Additional Benefits – Relieves headaches, Reduces facial tics, Helps promote faith.

RECIPES

Calming Oil Recipe
Blend 1 Ounce Carrier Oil
18 drops Myrrh Essential Oil
18 drops Rose Essential Oil
9 drops Spikenard Essential Oil
Shake well before each use.

Treatment is by adding 10 to 15 drops to a warm bath. Soak 10 to 15 minutes. Make sure someone is in the room with you to ensure you do not fall asleep in the tub.
Place 3 to 5 drops in water placed in an Aroma Lamp Dish. Use in room with person needing treatment. Patient needs to be lying down when used and someone needs to be available to put out the lamp if patient falls asleep.
Wear 2 drops as a Body Perfume. One drop behind each ear. Patient needs to be near a place where he/she can sit down if needed.

Musculoskeletal Oil
Blend 1 Ounce of Carrier Oil
15 drops Cypress Essential Oil
15 drops Spikenard Essential Oil
15 drops Vetiver Essential Oil
Shake well before each use.

Treatment is by adding 10 to 15 drops to a warm bath. Soak 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure someone is in the room with you to ensure you do not fall asleep in the tub.
Place 8 to 10 drops in palm of hands and massage onto the lower back and legs. Add drops as needed to cover all the areas of pain.
