Why Aromas are Important to the Story

Why Aromas are Important to the Story.

I would like to know the answer to these questions too.
Are you scent-sitive?
Do you associate certain times in your life or emotions with a particular aroma?
Where do you rank fragrance and odor in setting the scene?
Please place your answers in the comments section. Thank you.
