Daily Prompt: Far from Home

Tell us about the farthest you’ve ever traveled from home.

The farthest I’ve ever traveled from my home in Alabama would be Minneapolis, Minnesota. I believe the year was 2005. I was working with our local school system as a Homeless Student and Youth Liaison. One of my students had been awarded a scholarship by the Homeless Coalition and in order to secure the scholarship, she and I both had to attend the Homeless Coalition Conference in Minneapolis.
It was a 3-day, whirlwind Conference. We flew there and back with 1 layover each way. While there, we were whisked here and there by taxi. We met so many people, but there was no time for sight seeing.
I have never traveled outside of the U. S.
