Daily Prompt: Resolved

              Daily Prompt: Resolved

Have you ever made a New Year’s Resolution that you kept?

I remember, back in my early 20’s, exercising every day. I can’t remember if it was a New Year’s Resolution or not, but it stuck with me for 3-4 years. I began by lifting weights and eating lots of protein, (Schwarzenegger Style). Then the famous ‘Jane Fonda Workout’, which led to aerobics classes.

In my 30’s I slowed down the pace to various yoga techniques and walking. Yoga, walking, and a lot of hard work; lifting, carrying, long hours, etc… carried me through my 40’s.  Once I hit 50, I began a downhill slide with my health getting worse each day. I’m slowly trying to get back into walking and yoga again, but it is a daily struggle. I no longer make New Year’s Resolutions, mainly because I don’t know what each day will bring.

I remember making lots of Resolution’s in the past, but I think exercising was the one I kept.  That and the ‘Stop the Insanity’ diet from Susan Powers. Oh! How could I forget the Richard Simmons ‘Sweatin’ to the Oldies’?

  1. Like you, I made no resolutions, and like you, I’m getting back to exercise and yoga (stretching) for the nearly 65-year-old joints! Good luck to us, huh? And Happy New Year!

  2. Excercise… a common theme. Something I tell myself I need to do more of each year after my summer backpacking trip destroys me, and something that invariably falls to the wayside during the dark and cold winter months. I had been keeping up with it better this winter until I had surgery and have been sidelined for the past two months. I’m not going to resovle to get back into in the coming weeks, but I hope I do.
