GERMAN CHAMOMILE (Matricaria chamomilla)
1 Chamomile German
German Chamomile is an aromatic, herbaceous plant with daisy-like, yellow flowers. The Essential Oil is steam distilled from the flowers. The color of Essential Oil of German Chamomile is a deep blue. German Chamomile Essential Oil has rich, fruity aroma.
German Chamomile has long been used in Europe as a tea. Essential Oil of German Chamomile contains the following healing properties: analgesic, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, diuretic, nervine, and sedative.

ROMAN CHAMOMILE (Anthemis nobilis)

Roman Chamomile is much the same as German Chamomile. The main difference is in the color; Essential Oil of Roman Chamomile is pale blue color that fades to colorless with age.
The blue color of both German and Roman Chamomile Essential Oils is due to their Azulene content. Azulene is responsible for the anti-inflammatory properties of both German and Roman Chamomile Essential Oils. Essential Oil of German Chamomile, with it’s deep blue color, contains the most beneficial anti-inflammatory properties.

There is, also, a third Chamomile.

Maroc Chamomile (Ormenis multicaulis)

Maroc Chamomile is much the same as the German and Roman Chamomiles. The main difference is in the color, Essential Oil of Maroc Chamomile is a pale yellow. It contains no Azulene and no anti-inflammatory properties. It is the least expensive of the three Essential Oils.

Following are some recipes you might like to try:

Urinary System
Blend together with 1 ounce Carrier Oil
7 drops German Chamomile Essential Oil
4 drops Juniper Essential Oil
4 drops Sandalwood Essential Oil
This blend relieves cystitis and inflammation. It promotes the flow of urine and reduces fluid retention, making it a great diuretic.
Treatment is by placing 10 to 15 drops in a warm bath and soaking for 20 to 30 minutes every day; until symptoms are relieved. Use as a massage oil, (5 to 8 drops), on your belly and lower back area, (3 to 4 times a day, while symptoms last).

Nervous System
Blend together with 1 ounce Carrier Oil
7 drops Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
4 drops Lavender Essential Oil
4 drops Rose Essential Oil
This blend diminishes nervous excitably; reduces hysterical and nervous afflictions. It also soothes neuralgic pain.
Treatment is by placing 10 to 15 drops in a warm bath and soak for 30 minutes. Keep 3 to 5 drops burning in an aroma lamp placed near the nervous person. Wear 2 to 4 drops as a body perfume; 1 drop behind each ear and 1 drop on each wrist. Use these methods to calm as often as needed.
To relieve neuralgic pain, use bath 1 to 2 times daily. This blend can be used as a massage oil, 8 to 10 drops, to gently massage the area of pain. If the neuralgic pain is located in your feet, you might enjoy an old fashioned foot soak with 5 to 8 drops per gallon of water used.
*NOTE* Do not use Essential Oils in a Foot Massager. Essential oils can break down and damage plastic parts.

Muscular System
Blend together with 1 ounce Carrier Oil
8 drops Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
4 drops Lavender Essential Oil
3 drops Marjoram Essential Oil
This blend is excellent for general muscular aches and pains.
Treatment is by adding 10 to 15 drops to a warm bath and soaking for 20 to 30 minutes, 1 to 2 times daily. Use as a massage oil or as a hot compress, (8 to 15 drops, depending on size of area with pain), as often as is needed to relieve aches and pains throughout the day.

Skeletal System
Blend together with 1 ounce Carrier Oil
5 drops German Chamomile Essential Oil
5 drops Juniper Essential Oil
5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
This blend is beneficial for painful arthritic joints.
Treatment is by adding 10 to 15 drops to a warm bath and soaking for 20 to 30 minutes, 1 to 2 times daily. Use as a massage oil or as a hot compress, (8 to 15 drops, depending on size of joint area with pain), as often as is needed to relieve painful arthritic joints throughout the day.

Emotion Blend
Blend together with 1 ounce Carrier Oil
7 drops Maroc Chamomile Essential Oil
5 drops Orange Essential Oil
3 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
This blend helps relieve agitation, anger, depression, impatience, nervous irritability, and restlessness. It aids emotional stability and dispels emotional distress, fear, and tension. This blend is relaxing and helps promote a peaceful sleep.
Treatment is by 10 to 15 drops in bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes, at least once a day. Use as a total body massage, (15 – 20 drops), once daily. Wear as a body perfume, (4 to 6 drops), 2 drops behind each ear, 2 drops on each wrist, and, if needed, 2 drops of the lower throat. Use 3 to 5 drops in an aroma lamp placed in the same room or scattered throughout the home.
