Camphor Essential Oil

Camphor trees are hardy evergreen trees growing in China, Japan, and Taiwan. The essential oil is steam distilled from the wood of the tree. Camphor has a fresh, yet sharp, aroma.
Taoist and Buddhist planted Camphor trees, in their temples, throughout China. Camphor was valued in India. Essential Oil of Camphor came to Europe in the late seventeenth century.
The therapeutic properties of Camphor were studied extensively by Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy. Samuel was a German physician best known for creating a system of alternative medicine. He began practicing alternative medicine around 1792. Hahnemann wrote a number of books, essays, and letters on the homeopathic method, chemistry, and general medicine. Camphor Essential Oil contains antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, sedative, and tonic properties.
Following are some recipes using Camphor Essential Oil, that you may find helpful:

Respiratory Blend
Blend together with 1 ounce Carrier Oil
8 drops Camphor Essential Oil
4 drops Pine Essential Oil
3 drops Myrrh Essential Oil
Place 3-5 drops in an Aroma Lamp. Use 8- 10 drops in the bath. Use 6-8 drops in a chest or upper back massage and/or poultice.

Muscular Blend
Blend together with 1 ounce Carrier Oil
8 drops Camphor Essential Oil
4 drops Ginger Essential Oil
3 drops Coriander Essential Oil
Use 8-10 drops in the bath and/or as a body/joint massage to relieve stiff muscles and ease arthritic/rheumatic aches and pains.

Emotion Blend
Blend together with 1 ounce Carrier Oil
8 drops of Camphor Essential Oil
4 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil
3 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
Camphor has a very balancing effect on the emotions. Place 3-5 drops in an Aroma Lamp. Use 8-10 drops in the bath.
