Playing Catch Up

Well, it’s Friday, February 1, 2013 and here I am again playing catch up. The past two weeks have been very busy for me. First, my husband became sick and was in the bed for days. We all know what babies men are when they are sick. Go ahead and nod, you know it’s true! I was barely able to keep up that week and finally got him back to work last Friday.

That same Friday afternoon, I began to get sick; nausea, bad headache, chills, and aching all over. I missed my granddaughters’ basketball games on Saturday morning and was in bed most of the weekend. I was up and moving on Monday morning, but still not feeling well. Then I remembered I had a deadline coming up. I had not, at this point, even started my 8,000 word short story and the contest deadline was midnight on January 31, 2013.

I really wanted to enter this contest, (my 3rd), so I dropped everything on my ‘to do list’ and focused on my short story. This one I’m going to call my ‘miracle’ short story, because it was a miracle that I was able to submit it on time. Actually, a little before time. I wrote it, revised it, had to take out some words, proofread it twice, and submitted it about 4:00 pm CST.

My mind said, “Give me a break today.” I am a type A personality so it is impossible for me to sit by and write nothing. It just isn’t possible, so I made an agreement with my mind; I promised not to push my mind too far, if it would let me work on getting caught up today.

So, here I am. Since it is the 1st of February, I’ve decided not to go back and try to catch up on the Small Stones. I made it 28 days out of 31. I’m happy with those numbers.

I will catch up on the Daily Prompts, Share Your World, and B4Peace posts. It may take me a couple of days, but I will get there.

I have another short story contest deadline on February 15, 2013. Please help me remember.

I’m off now to begin the catching up.

Love to All!

Thanks. It will be June 1st before I hear from this one.

  3. Short story contest? Hmmm that sounds interesting! Tell us about that!

Sorry you have been sick. We had something similar here.

The nausea and chills have gone, but the head cold lingers. Crazy weather we are having here in Alabama; 70′s one day then 30′s the next. It’s going to be a long winter, but my daffodils are up and I’ve seen buds on some of the trees. So, Spring may be early this year. Then we get to deal with pollen and allergies. Just no end. :)

  5. Good luck with your contest and getting caught up. :-)

“We all know what babies men are when they are sick. ”

I find that remark to be incredibly sexist. ;)

But, but…I concurred with the doctor and he was just like a doctor and he said, “Men are babies when they are sick.”
